Terriers, it’s almost that time. Move-in is upon us. Some of you have been counting down the days since the end of your orientation. Others can’t wait to check out the new Center for Student Services and its shiny new dining hall. Maybe you looked at Student Link to check your fall schedule. Everyone is getting ready for a fresh academic year.

Many from the Boston University community were away for the summer — studying abroad, doing community service, lounging around at home, working at a summer camp or even interning — but that doesn’t mean you’ve been detached from BU. Did you see your neighbor walking their Boston Terrier down the street and then think of BU? Was someone at the beach sporting a BU tee and you gave them a knowing nod? Did you see something that right shade of scarlet at the store and did it make you want to jump on a train, plane or boat right back to Boston? Plenty of instances from those gorgeous summer days and nights reminded us of the common thread Boston University students share.

Show us the scenes of your trip up to Boston. Your packed car. Your luggage. Your map. The coffee stops along the way. The airport. Your sparkling clean room the first time you get the keys to your residence hall.

Terrier Pride will also be overflowing during the last week of summer with the First-Year Student Outreach Project (FYSOP) and the last orientation session for our international students. Feel free to take photos during that time, too!

We want you to share those mental keepsakes through photos. It’s a great way to share the essence and unique flavor of BU. Even better, we’re going to hold a contest with some fantastic prizes. Sharing a photo may win you a bunch of restaurant gift cards for places along Comm. Ave. or a Spotify Premium Subscription. These are just a few — you’ll have to actually win to discover the big surprises.

Here’s how the contest works. Starting now, take and submit a picture full of BU spirit. Anything that encompasses your love of BU. Post it on Twitter, Tumblr or Instagram (or all three) with the hashtag #ProudToBU. Or tag Dean Kenn Elmore (the page!) on a Facebook photo. Your accounts must be public or your photos will not be counted. You may also post it through foursquare or SCVNGR, but make sure to push it to Twitter or Instagram so we can track it.

You can then view your picture http://terriertouchdown.tumblr.com and check out other submissions. We encourage you to vote for your favorites! There is also no limit to the amount of pictures you can post. The contest will run until Saturday, September 1st at 7pm. The winner will be announced shortly after at the first ever Terrier Touchdown on Nickerson Field. 

Get creative. Share those atypical photos. Share your stories. Show your passion and how it leads you back to BU this fall. We want to see, through pictures, how far and wide BU students go during the summer.
